Dear BUG,

RE: BUG Ride Promotion - October 2003

Bicycle New South Wales is proposing a new event to promote your 
BUG and its activities. At present we are in the concept stage, but 
are committed to creating a successful event that hopefully become 
an annual highlight for our organisation. 

On the 18th and 19th of October this year, we are aiming to promote 
and coordinate more than 100 free rides state wide. It is envisaged 
that the rides will cater for all levels of experience and encourage 
new members to your BUG.
 
Currently Bicycle NSW has 40 affiliated BUGs. If each BUG is able 
conduct 2 or 3 rides we will be able reach our goal of 100 rides. 

At this stage Bicycle NSW is hoping to provide:
*   An overall event sponsor
*   Overall event coordination and promotion
*   An online registration system 
*   Posters for distribution
*   Dedicated pull out/feature calendar in Push On
 
What we are seeking from your BUG
*   To commit to running two or three rides on the above dates 
*   Have you rides planned by the end of July for inclusion in the 
    feature calendar
*   Nominate one BUG member to act as our contact for the 
    event (no, it won’t be a lot of work)
*   Distribute promotional posters for your event (supplied by 
    BNSW)
*   Confirm your BUG’s participation by Thursday 17th of April.

Initially we planned to hold the event on one day (the 19th) but it has 
been suggested offering two days instead would make it easier for 
ride leaders and the general public to participate.  However a single 
day (Sunday the 19th) may make it easier to focus promotion. This is 
yet to be finalised, so please let us know your preference/opinion for 
either one or two days.

We are currently seeking a sponsor to assist with the production 
posters and web site, but first we need to confirm your participation. 
We are also trying to come up with a catchy name, so if you have 
any ideas please let us know.
