Ride Grading
Which ride is right for me?
BayBUG caters for individuals who are new to riding and / or with minimum fitness, as well as those seeking challenging, exploratory or longer rides:
Saturday morning: Novice

- A ride leader who will ride with the slowest member and provide basic coaching and safety advice
- Speed depends on your ability
- Duration depends on fitness: anywhere between 30-90 mins
- Improved performance over time with the view to ride with the intermediate group

Individuals with some cycling experience or fitness |

- Other riders trying to pull away from the novices and catch the fast group
- Average speed: 22-24km/h
- Distance: 32km

Saturday morning: Fast
| Level |
Individuals with greater cycling experience and fitness |
ride detail |
| What to expect |
- These riders aim to get faster each week; many of our riders have progressed to racing at club level
- Average speed: 25-30+km/h
- Distance: 35km

Sunday morning: Exploratory

Individuals with some cycling experience and reasonable fitness |

| What to expect |
- Leisurely riding to varying destinations each week such as Parramatta, Marrickville, Eastwood, Milsons Point
- Longer rides organised on the last Sunday of the month to varying destinations such as Cronulla, M7, Lower North Shore, Prospect Reservoir, Nielsen Park, Wollongong
- Group rides together
- Average speed: 17-20km/h
- Distance: Typically 20-30kms for the regular Sunday rides or 30-100kms for the longer monthly rides
